Easter Egg Coloring with Ingredients Around the House

Posted March 26th, 2013 @ 6:02am

If you plan on eating those Easter eggs you're making, you'll want to color them with natural, non-toxic dyes. And you can use ingredients you already have around the house.

For orange, take the skin from a couple of yellow onions, add 3 cups of water and a teaspoon of vinegar and boil for 30 minutes, then strain and soak the eggs.

For red, grate raw beets with vinegar and water.

For yellow, boil several tablespoons of cumin or turmeric in water with a little vinegar.

You can get blue from purple or red from parsley or spinach...and lavender from Hibiscus teas bags.
