Phil Collins has decided to take his collection of artifacts from the Battle of the Alamo out of the basement of his home in Switzerland.
"No one else was enjoying it," he told a crowd in Texas this week - as he announced he was donating the valuable collection to a museum in downtown San Antonio.
The group of more than 200 artifacts includes a rifle owned by Davy Crockett and several Mexican muskets and musket balls. Phil joked Thursday he had spent "all the money I made from music" on the collection. He has been fascinated by the Battle of the Alamo since he was five years old.
Some of his items will be displayed this fall. But most will be stored until a new hall is built.
