The Today show this morning apologized for a comment that Joan Rivers made earlier this week about the Cleveland kidnapping victims who were held captive for more than a decade.
During Tuesday's Today show, Rivers talked about living in her daughter Melissa's guest room while filming their reality show and said "Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space." The women were deeply hurt by the comment and asked for an apology, but they haven't gotten one from Rivers. In fact, the comic tells TMZ it was a joke and she won't apologize. She says, "One of them has a book deal. Neither are in a psych ward. They're ok. I bet you within three years one of them will be on Dancing with the Stars."
But Today co-anchor Willie Geist said the show regrets her comments and doesn't condone what she said.
