Jewel is the national ambassador for ReThink, an awareness program asking people to rethink their perceptions of public housing. Her personal story of homelessness is just one example of the millions of Americans who struggle to keep a roof over their heads, including the families and children who call public housing home. This spring, the multi-platinum-selling artist is taking time out from recording her next album to write one very special song about the meaning of home – and she’s asking her fans for inspiration as part of the ReThink “Why Housing Matters” Song Contest. Here is more information on the contest:
· The ReThink “Why Housing Matters” Song Contest entry period runs from now through May 14
· People can get involved by submitting a photo and short essay of why housing matters to them, which will be used to inspire Jewel to write a song about the importance of home
· One winner will have the opportunity travel to Los Angeles to meet Jewel and attend an exclusive performance featuring the song they inspired her to write
