In an effort to make the arena experience more exciting during San Jose Sharks hockey games, the team announced plans to hire a crew of hot women in hot uniforms to scrape and clean the ice during the two mandatory television timeouts per period.
This idea for “ice girls” has not gone over very well with some fans – and some season ticket holders have even threatened to not renew their seats.
Critics of the idea say the Sharks are objectifying women's bodies or introducing an inappropriately lighthearted show into the intense hockey game experience – or both.
In the Sharks’ defense, the proposed Sharks “ice girls” uniform is relatively tame compared to many ice girl uniforms around the NHL. If you’re going to a Sharks game hoping to see some skin, the best you’ll get is a bare midriff. (Mercury News)
