We all want to be happy. And in light of the recent death of Robin Williams, we're reminded that things aren't always what they seem.
Most of us know that things like being healthy and spending time with loved ones is a great way to stay happy, but we don't often talk about the things we do that are sure to sink our happiness like a stone.
In the interest of staying happy, here are some things to avoid:
- Comparing yourself to others: Have you ever heard the phrase "Don't compare your insides to somebody else's outsides"? It's a good way to remind yourself that you never know what someone else is going through, and we're not all running the same race.
- Having a lack of close friendships: Experiences become all the more richer when you share them with others. Don't isolate yourself.
- Holding onto resentment: A wise man once said that resentment is like "drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." That is exactly what it's like ... so let it go.
