Capital Fringe Festival - July 10-27, 2014. The annual performing arts festival features more than 140 unique performances in multiple venues around Washington, DC.

Alexandria Birthday and Independence Day Fireworks - July 12, 2014, Oronoco Bay Park. The annual event includes children’s activities, a concert performed by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, birthday cake and fireworks.

Bastille Day Events - July 12-14, 2014. Celebrate French culture with special events in Washington DC that commemorate the storming of the Bastille Prison in 1789 and the launch of the French Revolution.

Baltimore/Washington One Caribbean Carnival - July 12-13, 2014. Baltimore, Maryland. The event features groups representing the Caribbean, Latin America and the Diaspora in colorful costumes portraying different themes, dancing to the sound of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, African, Haitian, Latin and Steelband music.

Washington Kastles Tennis Tournament - July 13, 2014. The Washington Kastles bring live tennis tournaments to Washington, DC.

National Harbor Fireworks - July 12, 2014, 9:30 p.m. Gaylord National Resort,  National Harbor, MD.  The free fireworks show over the Potomac River is displayed on select Saturday nights throughout the summer.

Bowie Town Center Kids Carnival - July 12, 2014,  1-3 p.m. Bowie Town Center (Food Court Pavilion), 15606 Emerald Way, Bowie, MD. Enjoy a bounce slide, carnival games, prize giveaways and more.

Fort Stevens 150th Battle Anniversary - July 10-13, 2014. Fort Stevens, Washington DC. Commemorative events include talks by noted Civil War scholars, living history demonstrations, historic walks, 19th-century children's games and crafts and live period music.  The events conclude on Sunday, July 13 with a 150th anniversary memorial program from 2–4 p.m. at the Battleground National Cemetery honoring Union soldiers who fought in the Battle of Fort Stevens and are interred in the national cemetery.

Fort Ward Civil War Reenactment Weekend - July 12-13, 2014. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site, 4301 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA.  To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens—the only battle fought in the Defenses of Washington, the museum will feature an interpretation of the historic battle, highlights of Union and Confederate camps, military and civilian living history activities and a President Lincoln interpreter.

Lake Anne Ukulele Festival - July 12, 2014. Lake Anne, Reston, VA. The free festival features performances by several internationally known and local ukulele musicians, music demonstrations, open to the public jam session, festival vendors, and other family friendly activities.  

Retreat through Williamsport Civil War Weekend - July 11-13, 2014. Williamsport,  MD. Learn about the significant events that took place in and around the Williamsport area before, during, and after the Battle of Gettysburg in July of 1863. This event consists of bus tours, reenactments, speakers, book signings, living history, and more.
