So...you workout, you eat healthy...and you're all about portion control, but you're still having trouble losing weight. What gives? If this describes you...then you may be sabotaging your diet without realizing it.

According to Glamour, here are 7 SURPRISING THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT:

1. Sleep is your lowest priority: Studies have shown that lack of adequate sleep can disrupt our appetite-regulating hormones and slow our metabolism. Aim for seven to nine hours of shut-eye every night.

2. Your life is a constant emergency: Stress forces your body to dump stored sugar into your bloodstream...which inhibits the burning of fat and tells our bodies to store the flab for later use.

3. Your meat is on steroids: You could also be ingesting all the hormones the animal was fed to help it grow faster. The problem with this is that “these chemicals are having the same effect on us that they’re having on the animals. Fat cows, fat pigs, fat chickens—fat people.”
