Ashley Habat showed up with her son Will to Sonshine Christian Academy in Callahan Florida and was told it was picture day. No big deal, right? Well, to Ashley it was because she said her son wasn’t ready – that the school didn’t give parents enough notice about the upcoming photos. Well, the school disagreed saying that they sent home a note in Will’s folder a week prior. I’m guessing Ashley doesn’t do a lot of backpack checking.
The irritated mom took her rant to Facebook, of course, posting: “Why is it that every single day there is something new I dislike about Will's School? Are my standards really too high or are people working in the education field really just that ignorant.”
The next day, the school told Habat that her son, Will, was out. And according to the letter of dismissal, Habat “utilized social media to call into question not only the integrity but the intelligence of our staff. ... These actions are also consistent with sowing discord, which is spoken of in the handbook you signed.”
“I was in shock,” Habat said. “Why would you expel a 4-year-old over something his mom posts on her private Facebook page only people on her friends list can see?” Private? Wrong, dummy. If you tag a business in a post they can read what you said about them.
