Sony has finally officially confirmed that the PlayStation 4 is coming to a store near you for the holiday season of 2013.

In order to compete with rival game consoles from Microsoft and Nintendo as well as smartphones and tablets, the PS4 will feature improved graphics as all as new social aspects that will allow gamers to share their gaming experience. It will also have a new version of the company's DualShock controller, which will sport a touchpad, motion controls and a "share" button.

Another feature is faster start-up times and personalization options that will download and suggest games based on your past history. Mark Cerny, the lead architect of PS4, explained, "As the system learns your likes and dislikes,…you'll discover content preloaded and ready to go on your consoled. Our long-term vision is to reduce download times to zero."

The price and exact release date have yet to be announced.
