RECALL: Fruit Sold in Many Grocery Stores is Contaminated with Listeria!

Drop the packaged fruit and step away from the table! If you bought it from Costco, BJ's, Trader Joe's, or a few other locations it might be riddled with listeria!

The voluntary recall includes plums, peaches, nectarines and pluots (apricot-plum hybrids) sold in clamshell-type packages of six- between June 1st and July 12th by Wawona Packing Co. of California.

Listeria can cause fever and chills, headache, upset stomach and vomiting.

Wawona said internal testing discovered traces of the nasty bacteria, but no illnesses have been reported. In a statement, the company explained, "Because we do not know the locations of the companies that purchased the products from our direct customers, the company is issuing a nationwide recall."

They’re cautioning consumers to throw out the fruit immediately and to call Wawona Packing at 1-888-232-9912 if you have any questions or want to check to see if your fruit is questionable. Concerned customers can also check
