Local teen makes prom dress out of duct tape, could win 10K!

Wanna send some props out to the Loudoun County teen who's a finalist in Duct Tape's annual "Stuck At Prom" contest. 17-year-old Christina Mellott, a Senior at Freedom High School in South Riding, has been designing clothes for several years now...she got started after receiving a sewing machine as a gift.

Of entering the contest, Christina says, “I thought it would be a unique material to work with." Her goal was to make a prom dress that no one could tell was made of duct tape and I, for one, say that she succeeded!

It took Christina her entire spring break to finish - over 80 hours! And 36 rolls of duct tape! The dress was inspired by some vines and flowers near a creek in her backyard.
