How Your Miracle Maker Donations Helped In 2018!

For just $20 a month (or 65¢ a day), you can become a Children's National Miracle Maker to help save children's lives! Your donation goes towards all aspects of what makes Children's National a special place and in 2018, they used your generosity:

• Supported programming in our Healing Garden, giving patients and families the ability to go outdoors to enjoy the sun, fresh air, and a view of the nation's capital.
• Increased programming in the Seacrest Studios, a 920-square-foot multimedia studio that provides programming for all patients and gives kids a chance to share their talents on air.
• Brought research to life. Physicians are using 3-D MRIs to study brain development in high-risk pregnancies.
• Provided many essential services that insurance doesn’t cover, like child life specialists music and art therapy, and gifts from Dr. Bear’s Closet
• Provided more than$125 million in community benefit for numerous community health and education programs.
• Helped treat more than 237,000 children who needed care, regardless of their family’s insurance or ability to pay.
• Helped find better ways of treating devastating childhood diseases. The Children’s Research Institute expanded faculty and staff, increased grant funding, and the number of research projects.
• Supported more than 1,300 research projects investigating a conditions including brain & spinal cord injuries, obesity, type 2 diabetes, renal disease, and autism.
• Allowed Children’s National to hire specialists in pain medicine, robotic surgery, fetal medicine, blood & marrow transplants, and plastic surgery.
• Helped invest in cures and better treatments by hiring leading physicians and scientists, who are working to make surgery more precise, less invasive and pain-free for all children.
• Treated children and families in the DC region, across the country, and throughout the world for chronic conditions, emergency traumas, rare diseases, birth defects and more.
• Gave kids the opportunity to be kids, no matter how sick they might be.
