NBC Washington has shared that a pedestrian bridge located at Kenilworth Avenue and Polk Street in NE has collapsed and crushed a vehicle, but thankfully did not trap any civilians. Five people who were in their cars have been reported as injured however, D.C. Fire and EMS shared.
The collapse occurred after a truck initially collided with the bridge.
Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Chris Geldart shared that the bridge received a poor inspection rating of a 4/9 back in February.
