I was shocked to hear the news this afternoon from my program director that comedian and SNL alumni Norm Macdonald has died after a 9 year battle with cancer. Norm Macdonald's agent released a statement regarding Macdonald's decision to keep his cancer diagnosis private. He had decided to battle his cancer privately so as not to draw attention to his illness, but to always be known for his comedy, both to his fans and to his friends and family. As of right now there is no word on the type of cancer Macdonald battled. The SNL comedian was best know for anchoring "The Weekend Update" for years during his SNL stint from '93-98. Norm Macdonald died today (Tuesday) at only 61.
