Hotels do their best to ensure that guests feel like they’re at home, but that doesn’t actually mean it IS your home. Therefore, you should act accordingly.
Unless you work in a hotel, you might have never guessed what kind of rude behaviors guests will try to pull on a regular basis. HBO’s “The White Lotus” recently shed some light on these behaviors and illustrated exactly what people should not do while staying at a hotel.
Diane Gottsman, an etiquette expert, author of “Modern Etiquette for a Better Life,” and founder of The Protocol School of Texas also shared her personal hotel etiquette tips to Huffington Post on how you can do your part to keep the experience pleasant for everyone. DON’T be the hotel guest who:
- Trashes your room
- Raids the housekeeping supply cart
- Doesn’t put on real clothes before leaving your room
- Makes lots of noise
- Is stingy on a tip
- Hogs amenities
- Wastes energy
- Makes unreasonable demands
- Sneaks in a smoke
- Treats check-in and checkout times as suggestions
