The Number of Weddings Skyrocketed on 2/22/22

When it comes to your wedding date, numbers matter and that’s why so many couples wanted “Twosday” for their wedding day. As you know, yesterday was February 22nd or 2-22-2022 and even though it was just a Tuesday, lots of lovebirds wanted that once-in-a-lifetime date as their anniversary.

Las Vegas is dubbed the “wedding capital of the world,” so it’s no surprise that couples headed there to tie the knot on the special date.

  • According to Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya, “Las Vegas is seeing a big uptick in marriages that relate around the two-date, which is apparently a very lucky number.” She adds, “The chapels are telling us that they’re very busy.”
  • She says they expect that 2-22 will be “one of the five highest dates of all time” for Vegas weddings.
  • Jason Whaley, president of the Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce, says that because of the “phenomenal” spike in weddings on February 22nd, some venues are repurposing any extra space they have in their facility to accommodate all their bookings.
  • But if “Twosday” is going to be one of the busiest days ever for weddings in Sin City, it’s got some competition. Goya says their busiest day of all time was 7-7-07, with 45-hundred weddings, and the second busiest was 11-11-11, when there were about 35-hundred.

A Wisconsin couple who tied the knot in Vegas yesterday says the date was a no-brainer choice for them. Sam Zimmerman and Shaun Tutor say it started with the fact that 22 has been Sam’s favorite number since high school. “I’ve always just been drawn to it,” she explains. And the fact that the groom’s last name is “Tutor” adds another level to it. “I shouldn’t forget this date,” Shaun jokes. “So that is a really good thing.”
