Virtual learning has really impacted some milestones that could easily be overlooked and one elementary school is trying to close the gap.
Teachers at Fairfax County's Stratford Landing Elementary School noticed that a lot of their students didn't know how to tie their shoes when they returned to in-person learning this school year.
Christine Jarboe and her fellow teachers Stratford Landing Elementary decided to create "The Shoe Tying Challenge" to help catch their kids up.
It's been just a few weeks since they started, using both real shoes and specially-designed wooden templates to walk students through the shoe-tying process.
It's been just a few weeks since the challenge kicked off, using both real shoes and specially-designed wooden templates to walk students through the shoe-trying process. Already, Jarboe says the kids' practice is turning into progress.
After demonstrating their successful shoe-tying skills to the teacher, students are rewarded with a pair of new, neon shoelaces!
By spring break, Jarboe believes every one of her 20 students will be able to tie their own shoes.
We had the chance to talk to Christine this morning! You can hear our conversation down below!
