WHY GEN Z + MILLENNIALS EMBRACE the "Coastal Grandmother" trend!

No, you don’t have to be a grandma to join in on the “coastal grandmother” trend. You just have to be someone who embraces turtlenecks, cashmere sweaters, and relaxed button-downs.

TikToker Lex Nicoleta first coined the term and explains the “coastal grandmother” aesthetic as “a successful woman who creates a beautiful life for herself” by “embodying elements of coastal living and homemaking.” Think like, Diane Keaton in “Something's Gotta Give” and Meryl Streep in “It's Complicated”. The coastal grandmother's aesthetic covers everything from what you wear to what you eat.

Here are some guidelines:

Where to shop: Zara, J.Crew, H&M, Gap, and Chico's

Hobbies to take on: Walks on the beach, trips to the farmer's market and local French bakery, drinking coffee on the porch, pottery, cooking, gardening

What to eat/drink: Pasta, steak, pinot grigio, cappuccinos, Arnold Palmers, anything made fresh from the garden

Movies to watch for inspiration: “Book Club”, “Because I Said So”, “Home Again”, “Nights in Rodanthe”, “Under the Tuscan Sun”, “The Family Stone”, and “Julie & Julia”.
