There's a NEW most popular dog in the US!

The French Bulldog is the new top dog in America. That's according to the American Kennel Club, which says it ended the Labrador Retriever's 31-year stay at the top.

Why the Frenchie? According to spokesperson for the French BullDog Club of America Patty Sosa, "They're comical, friendly, loving little dogs." They're also good for folks who live in the city, and don't require a lot of exercise and grooming. Patty adds, "They offer a lot in a small package."

The Lab is now the second most popular dog breed in the country. It's followed by the Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, and Poodle.

Rounding out the top ten: Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Beagles, Dachshunds and German Shorthaired Pointers.

The least popular title goes to the English Foxhound.
