Alaska Airlines has teamed up with Portland-based roaster Stumptown to create a custom coffee blend specifically designed to counteract the negative taste effects of serving coffee at high altitudes on flights.
This innovative coffee blend will be exclusively available on all Alaska flights, including its regional carrier Horizon Air, by December 1.
The coffee blend is a medium-dark base with added notes of marshmallows, browned butter, toffee, citrus oils, and cherry essence, creating a more complex flavor that counters the taste-altering effects of high-altitude travel.
This partnership with Stumptown marks the end of Alaska's decade-long collaboration with Starbucks, and while it may not necessarily attract new customers, it reflects the airline's commitment to supporting businesses in the Pacific Northwest.
