Jimmy Kimmel Reveals ABC Tried to Kill John Cena Naked Oscars Bit!
Jimmy Kimmel returned to work Monday (March 11) to provide a humorous Oscars recap. Especially the bit where John Cena hid his private parts while giving the Best Costume award.
“Getting this on the air…of all the times I’ve hosted the Oscars or the Emmys or anything. No comedy bit has ever received more scrutiny than this,” Kimmel explained about Cena appearing nude.
“There were meetings and site meetings, emails and texts, phone calls, and people sweating. Somebody was crying. Then, once they realized we weren’t going to take no for an answer … there was intense discussion about the envelope.”
Kimmel then showed Cena the shoebox-sized envelope the brass wanted him to use. With a smaller envelope, Kimmel and his colleagues were able to hide Cena's private parts just fine.
“I’d say congratulations, John Cena,” said Kimmel. “The commotion you caused. Very rarely does an idea literally push the envelope, and this one did.”
