Your morning coffee could keep you young(er)

HOW YOUR MORNING COFFEE MIGHT SLOW DOWN AGING: Your morning coffee might not just wake you up, but also slow down aging, finds a new study. New data published in the journal Nature Medicine found that older people with low levels of inflammation had something in common: they were all caffeine drinkers. Study author David Furman adds, "The more caffeine people consumed, the more protected they were against a chronic state of inflammation. There was no boundary, apparently." In fact, study participants who drank more than five cups of coffee a day showed extremely low levels of activity in the inflammatory gene pathway, which can help prevent many chronic diseases of aging.
