Clapton Documentary Debuts

An Oscar-winning film producer unveils her documentary about Eric Clapton this evening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars was produced by Lili Fini Zanuck (Driving Miss Daisy) using an "extensive personal archive of classic performance clips, on- and off-stage footage, iconic photos, concert posters, handwritten letters, drawings and personal diary entries."

The film tells the story of Clapton’s traumatic childhood, his journey through a series of British bands as he was hailed as a “guitar god,” his solo career, and the dark days of alcohol and drug abuse and the tragic death of his son Conor in 1991.

Among the celebrities in the documentary: B.B. King, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Winwood and former wife Pattie Boyd.

If you can't make it to the premiere, the film will air on Showtime in February.
