Fortnite's Live In-Game Marshmello Concert Was A Massive Success

Marshmello's digital concert inside the realm of Fortnite on Saturday (February 2) was a massive success and there are some huge numbers to back the accomplishment.

As per Billboard, the EDM titan's weekend set, which was available for streaming on every game platform like phones, PCs, Xbox, PS4, or Switch, drew upwards of 10 million virtual attendees and his on-demand video streams for hits like "Check This Out" (24,000 percent increase), "Chasing Colors" (up by 22,547 percent) and "Everyday" featuring Logic (up by 12,653 percent) all saw major spikes in plays. Performing at a location in the game called Pleasant Park, Marshmello teamed up with the company early on to prepare gamers for his concert set with a free emote dance called "Keep It Mellow," as well as a Marshmello themed pickaxe called Marshy Smasher. Additionally, a Marshmello skin and glider were both available for purchase with the gaming system's digital currency called VBucks.

Part of his massive success was due to Fortnite's setup for the show. Not only did the game offer only one mode called "Showtime" leading up to the concert, but weapons disappeared from the interface to focus on the musical set. After the performance, Marshmello took to Instagram to revel in the historic technological milestone. "We made history today! The first ever live virtual concert inside of @fortnite with millions of people in attendance," he captioned a snippet of the performance. "So insane, thank you epic games and everyone who made this possible!"
