Couple Dies Days Apart After Contracting Unknown Illness In Fiji

Seasoned travelers Michelle and David Paul of Fort Worth, Texas died days apart while on vacation in Fiji after they contracted an unidentified illness.

After experience diarrhea and vomiting, the couple went to a local hospital where they were treated and while hospitalized, their symptoms only got worse despite the medical attention. They would not leave the hospital and ultimately pass away on the island.

Michelle's father, Marc Calanog, participated in an interview and said that his daughter had texted him to let him know that both she and her husband were sick. "They have all the injections...Malaria, all this, Hepatitis," Calanog said.

The couple leave behind their two-year-old son, Aiden, who was being watched by Canalog and his wife while they were out of the country. Aiden's birth certificate, medial records and social security card were left with his grandparents while his parents were away and Canalog believes this was a premonition of something happening because this is something they had not done in the past, and the couple would travel frequently.
