Capital Caring Health Creates Memory For Family Of Manassas' Al Crow

This project represents the celebration of a life of a man by the name of Al Crow. Al was a former NFL player for the Giants (played 3 games in 1960), but settled in the Manassas area, where he was the Head Activities Director from 1963-1991, as well as Head Football coach for some time at Osbourn Park High School.

Al passed away this past September, and his last wish was to go to one more game at the field that was named in his honor (Al Crow stadium). The family received the end of life care from Capital Caring Health, a non-profit advanced home and hospice organization in the greater Washington area. Capital Caring found out that Al and his son Scott would always go to the Redskins vs. Giants game growing up, which were some of Scott’s favorite memories. Capital Caring Health and the Washington Redskins were able to partner and provide a game day experience during the Redskins vs. Giants game (same game they went to growing up) on the 22nd of December to be able to honor Al and spend a day with family, as well as some Capital Caring staff members that helped on the clinical and spiritual side in the process.

Hospice and end of life care, as it is a scary and daunting topic to speak about. However, through this video, we have shown it doesn’t have to be so scary, and introducing the Redskins and an aspect of celebration instead of sadness was the perfect way to blend the worlds and create a special memory and story that will hopefully make people think differently about hospice and end of life care. This difficult task wouldn’t have been possible without the Redskins, especially the suite and hospitality team.
