What once was will be again.

The Montgomery County Council and Prince George's Country Executive Angela Alsobrooks made the decision today (Augsut 5) that they are reinstating the mandate that masks must be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status beginning on Saturday, Aug. 7. Montgomery County's will go into place at 12:01AM on Saturday and Prince George's will begin at 5PM.

For MoCo, the vote was unanimous amidst the spread of the Delta variant. For PG, County Exec. Alsobrooks made the choice following conversations with health officials who constantly monitor COVID-19 data.

According to the CDC, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties are both considered to be an area with substantial COVID-19 community transmission.

Washington DC reinstated their indoor mask mandate last week.
