In 2021, Celia Robbins encountered a charming puffin sweater in Iceland, but decided against buying it. This seemingly minor decision haunted her for years. Recently, prompted by her daughter's question about regrets, Celia shared this story on social media. "Do you ever have any regrets, Mom?" her 14-year-old daughter asked. Celia's immediate thought was that unforgettable puffin sweater. She tweeted a picture of it, expressing her lingering regret.
Celia’s tweet quickly went viral, amassing 4.4 million views and over 2,000 reposts. Among those who saw it was Dave Wiskus, CEO of Nebula. In a twist of fate, Dave had the exact same sweater, unworn, bought for his wife two years prior. “My regret is that I bought this exact sweater for my wife two years ago. She has worn it zero times. I’m in NYC. Cover shipping and it’s yours,” he replied.
Initially skeptical, Celia soon realized Dave was serious. On June 12, she received the puffin sweater at her home in Berlin, Germany. Dave even covered the shipping costs. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Celia tweeted, “People are amazing! Just 10 days ago, I shared a thought about one of my regrets in life. Of course, not buying a sweater sounds like a minor regret, but SO MANY could relate! And then @dwiskus made my wish a reality.”
Dave recounted how he stumbled upon Celia’s tweet during a work trip in Amsterdam and recognized the sweater immediately. His wife, amused by the coincidence, was happy to send it. Celia described receiving the sweater as a moment where "the universe cared about me." This serendipitous event brought them together, with plans to meet in Berlin this summer.
This heartwarming story of a puffin sweater proves that sometimes, the universe listens and makes the world a bit more magical.
