New Study Reveals Most Workplace Meetings are Useless

What's worse than a single ineffective meeting? Four of them. Workers frequently find themselves caught in a cycle of pre-meeting meetings, the main meeting, post-meeting meetings, follow-up meetings, and more.

It likely won't shock you that meetings are deemed ineffective a staggering 72% of the time, according to a recent survey. This comprehensive study surveyed 5,000 workers across four continents, ultimately identifying meetings as the number one obstacle to productivity.

If your workday feels like an endless series of meetings, you're not alone. A remarkable 78% of respondents reported that they are expected to attend so many meetings that it hampers their ability to complete their actual work. This constant interruption forces 51% of workers to burn the midnight oil at least a few days each week to catch up on tasks.

The situation is even more pronounced for those aiming for higher positions. Among those climbing the corporate ladder to director level and beyond, 67% report working late due to meeting overload.
