Mobile Cancer Screening Clinic to Reach Underserved Communities

Early cancer detection can save lives, but many people face barriers like transportation, cost, and lack of information. To help, Inova Saville Cancer Prevention Center is launching a mobile cancer screening clinic to bring care directly to underserved communities in Northern Virginia.

“We want to meet people where they are,” said Liz Stark, manager of outreach and education. The mobile clinic will provide free mammograms, Pap smears, colon cancer screenings, and education—all without requiring time off work or extensive travel.

Inova is partnering with trusted community organizations like Nueva Vida, Korean Community Services, and Neighborhood Health to ensure accessibility. Initially, the clinic will offer state-of-the-art 3D mammograms, the same quality found in Inova hospitals.

Beyond screenings, patients will receive follow-up care if results are concerning, even if they lack insurance. Inova’s charity care program will assist eligible patients with the full cost of treatment.

Currently, only 60% of adults in Northern Virginia are up to date on colorectal cancer screenings, with even lower rates among Black, Asian, and Hispanic communities. Inova hopes this initiative will remove barriers and save lives.
