FEEL GOOD FRIDAY - MEMPHIS GOLD

Memphis Gold isn’t just a blues guitarist—he embodies the music he plays. A Vietnam veteran with 14 years of Navy service, he has lived through struggles most only hear about. After returning home, he faced a different kind of battle. From 1991 to 1995, he was homeless on the streets of Washington, D.C.

Every day was a fight for survival—finding food, clean clothes, a place to bathe, and a safe corner to sleep. Despite the hardship, Gold held onto his pride, doing whatever he could to remain presentable. Alongside the daily grind of survival, he carried the unseen scars of war, including post-traumatic stress, which made rebuilding his life even more difficult.

Today, Gold stands on the other side of that struggle. With a stable home and a supportive family, he has transformed his journey into a mission of service. He founded Building Bridges America, a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless and disabled veterans. The organization hosts events—like tomorrow’s special concert at the Warner Theatre in Northwest D.C.—bringing blues musicians and the community together to raise awareness and support for those in need.

For Memphis Gold, the blues has never been just music—it’s been survival, resilience, and hope. Now, he channels that lived truth into helping others find their own path forward.
