FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

In a dramatic, winner-take-all NFL matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ravens kicker Tyler Loop stepped up for a 44-yard field goal as the clock was about to expire — a kick that could have kept Baltimore’s playoff hopes alive. But as the ball sailed wide right and the Ravens’ season ended in heartbreak, something remarkable began to unfold off the field.

Instead of sinking into frustration, fans from both sides saw a chance to turn disappointment into something positive. They learned Loop had recently taken part in a local food drive and supported the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation, a nonprofit that runs food pantries serving families in the DMV...with Steelers fans giving amounts like $26.24 to mirror the 26-24 final score and Ravens fans pitching in figures tied to his jersey number and season statistics.

Within about 24 hours, the foundation reported receiving more than $6,000 in donations, a boost organizers said could help support their food pantries for an entire month. What could have been remembered as a bittersweet loss instead became a powerful reminder of how community, compassion and shared humanity can rise above rivalry.
