FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: No Pet Left Hungry

Montgomery County is stepping up to help families who are struggling to keep their pets fed, especially during the summer months. The county’s Office of Animal Services is rolling out free pet food pantries at two locations, making it easier for residents to get the help they need.

The idea is simple—just like people, pets shouldn’t have to go hungry. These pop-up pantries will run through the end of June, offering food on select days each week. One location is in Rockville at the Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus, and the other is at the county’s Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood.

It’s not just about giving out food, though. The program is also encouraging the community to pitch in by donating small, unopened bags of pet food to help keep the effort going. County officials say the goal is to make sure families don’t have to make the tough choice between feeding themselves and feeding their pets. And by providing this support, they’re helping people keep their animals at home, where they belong.
