Rosa Q Caldas, President & CEO, ZemITek, LLC

Ms. Rosa Caldas is the President and CEO of ZemiTek LLC, an 8(a) certified and woman-owned small business based in Bethesda, MD. Ms. Caldas has over 30 years of experience managing large enterprise-level information technology (IT) projects and supporting numerous Federal Government clients. Her professional work experience spans the private and public sectors, in the United States and in the international marketplace.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Ms. Caldas’ professional career began by implementing projects in the Caribbean region. In 1995, Ms. Caldas began supporting the Federal Government as a contractor and managed federal IT projects for small and large established government contracting firms.

After successfully working and leading IT projects for other businesses for several years, Ms. Caldas decided to start her own business because she felt that she could do a better job supporting the Federal Government and provide a better, more nurturing environment for her employees. Ms. Caldas founded ZemiTek, LLC in 2007, and initially worked out of her own home.

Under Ms. Caldas’ leadership, ZemiTek experienced significant growth and expansion in subsequent years, and began supporting Federal agencies first as a subcontractor and later as a prime contractor. ZemiTek’s expertise expanded from implementing IT projects to providing administrative and technical support services, knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation, and training activities worldwide.

Since 2010, ZemiTek’s primary Federal client has been the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Ms. Caldas and her ZemiTek team have specialized in developing solutions and delivering technical assistance and training at over 70 of USAID’s missions in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. The company now has over 80 employees as well as many consultants supporting its work with the Federal Government.

In recognition of ZemiTek’s outstanding performance as a Minority and Woman-owned Small Business, Ms. Caldas was invited in May 2021 to speak before the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship to discuss her experiences and provide suggestions on improving the Federal Government’s Minority and Women Owned Small Business contracting programs. Further, in September 2021, she was one of five Latina business owners invited to the White House to share her experiences at a small business roundtable hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris.
