A woman in the U.K. got revenge on her ex and she went high-tech to do it. Phillipa Copleston-Warren used her ex’s Amazon Alexa smart speaker to verbally threaten his new partner, having the device blast “get the whore out” at his home. And she also posted a naked photo of her former flame on his social media account, with the caption, “do I look fat???”
Details of her post-breakup antics all came to light recently in a London court, where she was charged with a single count of disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress. In addition to the nudie pic and trying to use Alexa to kick her ex’s new girl out, Phillipa also reportedly “threatened” the couple by using a connected app to switch a bedside light off and on at his home.
The 46-year-old’s attorney, Jacob Bindman, says his client had access to the smart system at her ex’s home so she could check on the dog they share that’s a support animal to help with her diabetes by alerting her if her sugar levels are low. Apparently, the pooch had recently had a medical procedure and she claims she was just looking after it. At sentencing, the judge issued a seven-year restraining order, but she was spared a three-month prison sentence. Judge John Denniss told Phillipa he had “no doubt” she was concerned about her dog and the operation it had just had, but he wasn’t convinced that was the only thing troubling her.
“There was an element which was nasty, of jealousy, of revenge, and irrational behavior which led to fury-like behavior in you,” explains Denniss. “I use the word because it reminds me of, ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ and here there are elements of that fury.”
