Woman Goes Viral For Her 15 Rules For Successful 1st Date

A woman is going viral for her funny video outlining her 15 rules for a successful first date. Eli Rallo, a writer based in New York City, regularly shares lifestyle tips with her 550-thousand followers and in a new clip, she offers her guide for how to ensure a successful date.

  1. It’s a Thursday - Why is that the best day for a first date? She says that way you can ask what their plans are for Saturday or Sunday, and you can set up a second date before Monday so you’ll know how you feel about them before the new week starts.
  2. 1.5 glasses pregame rule - She also suggests preparing for your date by drinking one and a half glasses of something, whether it’s red wine or Diet Coke, to “get yourself pumped up.”
  3. The Ariana Grande rule - While you’re sipping your pregame beverage of choice, Eli says, “You have to listen to Ariana Grande. It just makes you feel good before you go on a date.”
  4. Don’t become a pen pal - You don’t need to be texting someone all day, every day before your first date, she says, adding, “You want to get to know them in person, not over the phone.”
  5. Date on the same night as your friends - That way you and your other single friends can get ready together, pregame together and then come home and regroup after your dates.
  6. Drinks are king - Having a drink, be it a cocktail or coffee, gives you something to sip on and something to hold, so “you have something to do.”
  7. Canadian tux v cute sweater - A Canadian tuxedo refers to wearing jeans with a denim jacket, which Eli suggests in spring or summer, but in cooler months she’s all for the “F-me sweater” that screams confidence, but is also “soft and huggable.”
  8. Don’t add to contacts - She says your date doesn’t “need to take up real estate in your phone until the 3rd date.”
  9. Use manipulative psychology - Give him time to think about you after the date so he can fall for you.
  10. Tell one comedic traumatic story - To “show your potential partner what’s coming.”
  11. Share food - This makes everyone feel more comfortable, she says.
  12. Don’t text first - Unless they ask you to text when you get home.
  13. Talk about top five favorite albums - This is your go-to if you run out of things to talk about.
  14. Follow the “thumbs-up rule” - Text a loved one a thumbs-up emoji to tell them you’re okay.
  15. Make tentative plans for after - So you have somewhere to go if you want to get out of there.
