STUDY: MOVING STRESS LEADS NEARLY 20% OF COUPLES TO BREAK UP

Moving to a new home can be exciting, as choosing new paint colors and checking out your new neighborhood are some of the more enjoyable parts. But there’s also a huge downside to moving - the stress that it involves. For couples, moving isn’t always the bonding experience they hoped for, as 70% of couples fight while moving, according to new research.

A survey of 2-thousand adults finds that a third of couples say moving to a new home has had a negative impact on their sex lives, with 20% of them blaming the move for their lower sex drive. But even worse, 17% of respondents have actually ended their relationship over the stress of moving.

More than 25% of those polled have gotten the “moving ick” while changing homes. These are the most common “moving icks” people have experienced:

  1. Disorganization
  2. Trying to carry too much
  3. Dropping furniture
  4. Dropping a moving box
  5. Yelling “PIVOT” like Ross on “Friends”
  6. Saying “home sweet home” when walking through the door of the new place
