Gerren Price, President & CEO of DowntownDC Business Improvement District

Gerren Price, a visionary leader with over 15 years of experience in public and non-profit management, currently serves as the President and CEO of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID). His journey is marked by a deep commitment to community well-being, economic vitality, and innovative urban planning.

Before assuming his role as the BID's CEO, Gerren held the position of Director of Public Space Operations, overseeing a team of 80+ staff dedicated to ensuring downtown D.C. remains clean, safe, and economically vibrant. His strategic approach and extensive background in directing large-scale youth, workforce, and education programs set him apart as a dynamic force in the industry.

Gerren's professional trajectory encompasses impactful roles, including Senior Associate for National Community Strategies at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, where he managed a $25M investment portfolio advancing national place-based, two-generation approaches to serving whole families. Prior to joining the BID, he contributed significantly to the District of Columbia government in various leadership capacities, leaving an indelible mark on youth workforce development, parks and recreation programs, and strategic policy analysis.

Driven by a passion for Downtown D.C., Gerren has championed key initiatives, such as supporting the construction of the Downtown Day Services Center and facilitating the successful redevelopment of Franklin Park through an unprecedented public-private partnership. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated resilience and community support, leading efforts to provide critical lifeline support to struggling businesses and coordinating food and emergency shelter services. Gerren holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S./M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College. His education, coupled with a strategic mindset and financial acuity, has allowed him to navigate the complexities of public and nonprofit management successfully.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Gerren Price was named one of the Washington Business Journal's "40 Under 40" in 2022. His dedication extends beyond professional endeavors, as evidenced by his active involvement in community boards, Page 2 of 2 including Arts for Learning, and his commitment to mentoring young people. Gerren is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

In the summer of 2022, Gerren was named the third leader of the DowntownDC BID in its 26-year history. His tenure is marked by a clear strategic vision that aligns with the BID's values and intended impact. Under his leadership, DowntownDC is positioned to thrive as a leading destination with undeniable energy—a green, livable, and vibrant district where everyone belongs, and memories are made.

A proud resident of the District of Columbia, Gerren currently lives in the city with his wife and two daughters.
