A Baby Was Born On the Side of the Beltway This Morning

Talk about making a grand entrance into the world... and stopping traffic!

A baby was born on the outer loop of the Beltway, near University Blvd. around 7 o'clock this morning. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer, the ambulance arrived after the baby was born. Mom and baby were taken to a local hospital and are doing fine.

Can you imagine? This was one of my fears (aren't there so many of them?) when I was pregnant.. That we wouldn't make it to the hospital in time. My first came fast and furious, and was born 2 hours after we arrived at the hospital. That's close enough for my liking! My son had to be evicted... I was induced on his due date.

Anyway, it's nice to see a story about traffic being backed up for a happy reason... Well, I don't know how happy mom was while giving birth on the side of the road, but you get what I'm saying... Glad they are both healthy!
