Happy Mother's Day!
Every year just before Mother's Day, a bunch of "What Moms Really Want For Mother's Day" lists come out... I usually read them and think they're ridiculous. Half the time they're sponsored lists with links to products - so they're not about what moms actually want, they're about what advertisers want you to think moms want so you'll spend your money...
I decided the other day to ask my friends and followers on Instagram and Facebook... "What do you REALLY want for Mother's Day?"
Here are some of the responses:
"A 3 day weekend on the water with no kids."
"Appreciation for a change."
"To sleep in."
"Alone time."
"For my kids not to fight for one full day."
"A nap."
"A day at the spa while someone else studies for my finals for me."
"For my daughter to behave."
"I asked my kids (15 & 18) to mow the grass and vacuum/mop the house. They did nothing except make a bigger mess for me to clean up."
And this one is my favorite, because it's so specific...
"To sit on the beach and have someone clean my oven."
YES, cleaning the oven is the worst!!
So what do these responses tell us?
MOMS NEED A BREAK!
A break from cleaning, a break from bickering kids, some extra sleep... Yes, cards, flowers, brunch, gifts, they're all sweet and appreciated... But what moms really need is some time to relax and not worry about the things they normally have to worry about. If you can, let mom take a nap or have some alone time today!
What do you think? Anything you would add to the list?
