Would you make a bid for Marilyn Monroe’s grave marker?
It’s about to be up for auction online through Heritage Auctions.
The object in question is a simple bronze marker reading “Marilyn Monroe 1926 – 1962.” It’s one of the markers that have been on her crypt over the years at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. The plaques have to be replaced from time to time due to wear and damage from visitors. This one was removed sometime in the mid-1990s.
It’s not clear how much the winning bid might be – or whether there will be one. The original marker, replaced sometime in the 1970s, was sold in 2015 for $212,500. However, the marker now on the auction block was offered just this past November and did not attract the starting bid of $50,000.
