So Long, Cronuts: New Craze May Be Cookie Dough

New Yorkers are lining up to eat raw cookie dough.

Since Dō Cookie Dough Confections opened in January in Greenwich Village, customers have been crowding in to sample 13 flavors by the scoop or pot with a choice of toppings. If raw is not your thing, you can buy the cookies already baked - or bake the dough yourself. You can even get a cookie dough milkshake.

Flavors include chocolate chip, sugar cookie, oatmeal, brownie batter, Fluffernutter, s’mores and peanut butter Snickerdoodle.

Kristen Tomlan founded the business on-line a couple of years ago. She threw herself into her work after surviving a near-fatal reaction to an antibiotic in 2014. Now she’s focusing on her brick-and-mortar store – assuring clients that eating her raw dough is completely safe.

The shop is so popular that some customers stand in line for one to four hours. The website cautions that they “typically start running out [of dough] an hour before close” – which is either 9 or 10 pm. Tuesday through Sunday.

In the video above, CBS This Morning covered the grand opening.
