Our gloomy skies will have a colorful highlight this afternoon.
Eight jets from from the French Air Force will fly in formation over DC trailing red, white and blue smoke. The flyover, scheduled for about 1 pm, will go from east to west just south of the National Mall.
The Patrouille de France (French Aerobatic Patrol) is the equivalent of the US Air Force Thunderbirds. The aerial team is visiting America to commemorate the 100th anniversary (April 6) of America's entry into World War I.
The jets will make a feature performance in Florida next Saturday and Sunday at the 2017 Melbourne Air & Space Show.
