Engineering Students Create 3/4 Ton Rubik's Cube

Inspired by the throwback music of our Best of the 80s Weekend to try out that old Rubik’s Cube?

Head over to the University of Michigan, and you can solve a massive Cube that weighs in at 1,500 pounds.

A group of undergraduates studying mechanical engineering figured out how to create the giant and totally operable Rubik’s Cube – and, after three years, installed it this past week on campus.

For the record, they needed to design a unique set of rollers and transfer bearings. So let’s hear it for the team, led by Samuelina Wright and Martin Harris (who can solve a Cube in 43 seconds). Check out how they did it in the above video.
