Which form of social media does the most damage to the mental health of young people?
That was the question that a new British survey tried to answer.
The worry was that the use of social media can lead to such things as increased anxiety, feelings of inadequacy, a poor body image and cyberbullying…and that some platforms might be worse than others.
According to the report Status of Mind from the Royal Society for Public Health, the app with the worst impact turned out to be Instagram, followed by Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter. YouTube actually had a net positive effect – although it did lead to a lack of sleep by users (tell me about it!).
