Ready for the musical stage to smell like teen spirit?
Variety reports that a Seattle theater company has commissioned a musical about the city’s 1990s grunge scene.
Think Mamma Mia with lots of bass, feedback and distortion…because the musical will deal with fictional characters in early '90s Seattle, letting grunge anthems tell their story.
The book is being written and there isn’t even a title yet. But it looks as if the music won’t be a problem. The Seattle Repertory Theatre is already working with Nirvana’s former manager as well as an executive from BMG (publisher of tunes by Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden).
In case it doesn’t work out…all apologies!
