Large Winter Storm Brings Snow To The Northeast

A brewing winter storm is expected to bring a mix of freezing rain, snow, sleet and ice to New York City in time to complicate the Thursday morning commute.

Forecasting models apparently agree that the storm with develop over the Midwest on Wednesday, gaining strength as it rolls east.

Snow is likely as the system arrives in the NYC area early Thursday with temperatures hovering slightly above freezing.

New York should get snow and sleet Thursday morning during the morning rush. The precipitation will turn to rain after 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Some forecasters expect 1 - 3 inches of snow for most of the city, North Jersey and Connecticut. The snow is expected to melt by the early afternoon.
