Of all the things President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama may have to ever worry about, money won’t be one. The two of them have been fielding offers for their memoirs, and the bid has reportedly reached a whopping $60-million.
While Barack and Michelle plan to write separate books, they’re selling the rights together as a package. Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan had been battling for the opportunity to publish their autobiographies. And today it was announced that the Obamas are going with Penguin.
Their deal breaks the record for a presidential memoir. President Bill Clinton had held the record with $15-million.
