An envelope containing an unknown substance made 11 people, including some Marines, "feel ill" Tuesday at the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, authorities said.
According to a tweet from the Arlington Fire Department, at around 5:55 p.m., 11 people fell ill after the letter was opened in a Fort Myer administration building.
The tweet added that three people were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition. Firefighters from Arlington County were aiding officials at Fort Myer in handling the incident.
The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed in a tweet that a letter with an unknown substance was received and after it was opened, a building was evacuated. The tweet added that several Marines are receiving medical treatment and the Marines will work with the FBI to investigate the incident. (The Washington Post)
